The Foundation finances children’s hospitals and shelter-care facilities. ABS Electro promotes a healthy lifestyle, physical culture and sport, makes efforts to encourage people to have active rest, exercise regularly, go in for sports, and get recreation.

The Foundation organizes large-scale sporting events including national competitions, regional sports games, Olympics, athletic festivals and other activities. The Foundation has the following top priorities in this area:

Being deeply concerned about the future of Russia and the nation’s health, ABS Electro gives financial support to children’s and adult sports teams as well as to the Ski Mountaineering Association of the Chuvash Republic.

    Science and Education

The Foundation provides charity support to educational institutions by purchasing needed training and office equipment. ABS Slavyansky acts as a sponsor of overseas internships for talented students and ABS Electro employees. The foundation allocates money for student cultural life through its continuous sponsorship of the Tekhi team of the Technical Institute of Chuvash State University, as well as by participating in the Student Spring festival intended to reveal students’ creative skills. The foundation allocates funds for awarding the pupils of the Cheboksary schools it patronizes for their high results at Research and Practice conferences and academic competitions.

In 2009 ABS Slavyansky acted as the primary sponsor of the conference Education and Innovative Economy: Implementation of the Modern Education Model in 2009 – 2012, held by the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University.

    Culture and Spirituality

The ABS Slavyansky Foundation participates in the UNESCO Program “A book as a present for every blind child” developed to assist blind children. The Foundation has allocated funds for a publication called the “Atlas for Perceiving Illustrations.”

Restoration of the Tikhvin Monastery has been carried out in the town of Tsivilsk (Chuvashia, Russia) under the auspices of the ABS Slavyansky Foundation for over 10 years. The Foundation assists with the re-edition of the monastery’s records dating from 1887. Much attention is given to the financial support of the Sunday school run by the Tikhvin Bogorodsky Convent in the town of Tsivil. Books, stationery, and a Barguzin minibus were presented to the children. The Foundation’s financial support made it possible to repair the school building.

The Foundation is assisting with the transport infrastructure construction project in the town of Mariinsky Posad (Chuvashia, Russia), and finances the Association of Composers in Cheboksary (Chuvashia, Russia) and the theological faculty of the Serbian Orthodox Church (Belgrade, Serbia).

The charity foundation takes part in the cultural life of Cheboksary’s residents. In May, 2008 ABS Electro congratulated the residents of Cheboksary on Victory Day by organizing a free performance of Eurovision -2007 contest winner Maria Sherifovich at a concert given for city residents. A group of journalists from the Chuvash Republic visited the Eurovision-2008 contest which was held in Belgrade thanks to assistance from ABS Electro.

    Assistance to the needy

ABS Electro and the Foundation employees are responsive to other people’s misfortunes. They promptly responded to the call to provide humanitarian aid to South Ossetia residents, who in August, 2008 found themselves in the zone of military operations. Within a few days the holding company employees provided voluntary contributions totaling 75,000 rubles as well as several boxes of food products, clothes, personal hygiene products and household appliances. On September 4th the humanitarian aid was delivered to the head department of the Ministry for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Response of the Chuvash Republic. Over 550 people joined efforts aimed at helping people.

Assistance to war veterans and orphaned children

With the financial support of the ABS Slavyansky Foundation, ABS Electro traditionally congratulates and hands valuable gifts to war veterans and workers on the home front who were the former company employees on Victory Day. A concert is given to make the day memorable.

The company patronizes the children’s home called Malyutka, located in Cheboksary. The doctors, teachers and the employees of ABS Electro who assist them, have set themselves the goal of increasing the adoption rate. They know exactly what the children’s needs are by maintaining close contacts with the administration of this institution, and therefore are able to provide targeted assistance.

The creation of a true children’s art studio was the first example of such cooperation, for it is a well-known fact that drawing is the best way to develop children’s locomotor functions, eye-hand coordination, and artistic skills. Regular classes at the art studio will help children with congenital abnormalities to catch up with their peers. This in turn will increase their chances of being adopted. Furthermore, the company’s employees give the little children a lot of other presents, such as development games, talking dolls, a motorbike, sets of clothes and footwear, baby food and fruit.

On the eve of International Children’s Day the Finance Department employees of ABS Rus Company transferred funds to the account of ABS Slavyansky Foundation. The money was spent on buying baby food, fruit, and development toys with due regard for peculiarities in the development of children under 3 years old in accordance with the Montessori children’s development method. The children’s home head doctor handed Nenad Popovich, President of ABS Electro, a thank you letter in acknowledgment of the valuable help and care for disadvantaged children. ABS Slavyansky foundation provides financial support to Yadrinsky correctional orphanage for children with special needs. A total of 33 children with different diseases of the musculoskeletal system (infantile cerebral paralysis) and mental retardation live in this children’s home. The foundation bought development toys for facilitating the perception of the surrounding world and developing children’s skills.

The foundation helps other children’s institutions of the Chvash Republic such as the orphanage in the town of Kozlovka, Kugesinskaya correctional boarding school. ABS Slavyansky Foundation and ABS Electro employees have established a very warm relationship with the children of the Sunday school run by the Tikhvin Bogorodsky Convent in the town of Tsivil. The children are not only helped financially, but are also provided with specially designed adaptive programs aimed at revealing their creative abilities.

Before the arrival of the 2009 New Year, ABS Electro enterprises successfully conducted a charity event “Let us present New Year’s to the children!”. New Year’s presents were handed out to children of the Malyutka children’s home, the Sunday school run by the Tikhvin Monastery, and Alatyrsky correctional boarding school. Presents were also given to little children undergoing treatment at the oncohematological center of the Republican Children’s Hospital.
