VNIIR: the results of exhibition and XX conference «Relay protection and electric power system automation 2010»
11.06.2010
In the beginning of June VNIIR (part of ABS electro) took part in the exhibition and XX conference «Relay protection and electric power system automation 2010» in Moscow.
One of the most waited events for country’s relay protection specialists gathered more than 300 chiefs and specialists of power-generating sector. The participants of the event are the chiefs of SO UPS, FGS, RusGidro, “Energoatom” Concern, Inter-Regional High-Voltage Grid Company, electrical power engineering experts from leading research centers, also other specialists of relay protection and automation, professors and students of electric-power universities, employees of energy companies from CIS. The expositions of more than 50 companies were presented at the exhibition. During the conference more than 90 reports about urgent questions for relay protection were introduced.
Traditionally the participant of these events was All-Russian Scientific Research & Development Technological Institute of Relay Engineering with Pilot Production (VNIIR). Today the institute designs relay protection and automation systems for power facilities, preserves leading positions in production of low voltage switching equipment, compact relays, relay protection systems for shipping electric power system. There is a relay protection scientific school in VNIIR and Chuvash State University. This school presented at Moscow conference a conceptual report “Development of theoretical basis of microprocessor relay protection”.
The following devices were displayed on exhibition stand of VNIIR: the relay protection and automation systems on the basis of intelligent terminals of REX-650 series, new sets of current protection on static relays, which excited a significant interest of representatives from grid companies. The stand of VNIIR demonstrated opportunities of power system simulation centre; solving a wide range of tasks (working-out of recommendations for improvement of electrical network structure and modes, research of static and transient stability, check of relay protection and automation equipment on digital real time models etc).VNIIR novelties captured the attention of exhibition visitors. The honored guests of the stand were management representatives of SO UPS and FGS UPS. During the first day the exposition was visited by the delegation headed by the first deputy of board chairman of SO UPS Nikolay Shulginov and the first deputy of board chairman of FGS UPS Valeriy Chistyakov.
VNIIR specialists presented four reports of applied research. For example the announcement of Evgeniy Erokhin about VNIIR recent development – static relays. Olga Onisova and Alexander Navolochnyi introduced the possibilities of software system in VNIIR’s power system simulation centre.
The awarding was a final event of the anniversary conference during ceremonial closing. The conference organizers handed diplomas and medals in several nominations: “For long service and fruitful results in development of relay protection and automation equipment in Russia” (S. Petrov, Y. Usachev and others), “For the obtained results in creation and integration of contemporary intelligent relay protection and automation devices in Russia” (young specialists max 33 years old – V. Maslov, A. Podshivalin, V. Naumov, A. Golovin). VNIIR was awarded with fine prizes: a medal in nomination “For great contribution to relay protection and automation development in Russia”. The chairman of VNIIR board of directors G. S. Nudleman was awarded in nomination “For contribution to the development of relay protection and automation theory and practice in Russia” (together with scientists Y. Lyamets, V. Nagai and others). Diplomas “For training of specialists and great contribution to the development of relay protection and automation” were received by specialized departments of 4 Russian universities: MPEI, Ivanovo State Power Engineering University, Chuvash State University, South Russian State Technical University.
The program of the anniversary conference and exhibition was one of the most intensive in the whole history of this event – said the chairman of VNIIR board of directors and a member of the program committee Goda Nudleman – Everything was successful, both in exposition presentation and in reports. There was a very interesting discussion about IEC 61850 integration in relay protection and automation systems. Here the specialists discussed the achievements and implementation problems of the standard. the discussion results will contribute to unification of digital devices from different manufacturers in united information network. The participants were especially interested in discussion of tasks of fault registration, which was made as a round table. The most important aspects were spoken about. Besides scientific problems the up to date issues of education quality for young specialists were much discussed.
